On line MBA Programs
Who is an ideal candidate for distance learning MBA programs?
Distance learning programs require that students be very self motivated, good at prioritizing their time, and independently ambitious. In return for this, you get freedom from rigid class schedules, commuting, and the ability to pace yourself as necessary when studying.
On line MBA programs also offer more opportunities for less traditionally structured options, like accelerated full time courses, and part time programs, each designed around the idea that different students have different time lines for their goals, and each gives you more flexibility to work the program into your life instead of rearranging life for the program.
Of course, there are pros and cons to every type of choice, and choosing between traditional on-campus MBA programs and on line MBA programs is no different.
Who might be better suited to on-campus MBA programs?
If the idea of planning your own schedule isn’t as appealing to you as immersing yourself in the program and its structure, an on campus program is probably the better choice. And, if face to face interaction with professors and fellow students is important to you, on line MBA programs may not be exactly what you’re looking for. No matter how interactive and multi-media an on line program is, it doesn’t replace the social aspects of schooling, if those things are of particular importance to you.
Many grad students are also looking for teaching positions part time, or would like to work as research assistants for faculty. That’s not usually an option with most on line MBA programs, so if those things fit into your goal set, finding a traditional brick-and-mortar university program is most likely your best bet.
There’s no right or wrong answer–just what works best for you!
